No. DA12046
Newport, Rhode Island maple flattop highboy with shell carved apron.
Diminutive in size and perfectly proportioned. The legs are the superb Townsend/Goddard square section cabriole style with wonderful slipper feet.
These legs (and most Newport highboy legs) were removable, with the intention of being shipped by boat and assembled on delivery.
The brass is original as are all moldings.
Restoration: one side return, the late 19th century turned key inserts on the two flanking drawers in the lower case and one back board. Attributed to Christopher Townsend. Ca. 1740-1745
