English Step-back Dresser

No. RD17235

Superb oak English (Welsh Border) step back dresser with original everything.

The feet, cornice, knobs, bone key escutcheons, star inlay and all cross banding is original.

This general form is normal (”T” form drawer arrangement) but the execution is The Best!.

• The applied tombstone arches on the doors highlighted with mahogany crossbanding is a superb detail

• The center drawer section is “Broken Out” from the body of the base and the whole section with drawers is bow front (very unusual).

• The columns separating the three sections are full columns (usually only quarter or half columns columns in very good dressers). -

• The quantity and quality of the inlay (that matches in the cornice fascia) is very unusual.

• The color and selection of quarter sawn oak - very unusual.

• The bone key escutcheons lend a twinkle highlighting the drawers.

• The ends of the base are paneled rather than just boards.

The bottom three drawers are a facade which is normal for western England dressers (with access to storage from the right cupboard).
