Chippendale corner chair

Excellent Chippendale corner chair (roundabout chair) with four cabriole legs, the front cabriole leg has acanthus leaf carving on the knee, very delicate slender ankle on a bold and well carved ball & claw foot.

Wonderful pierced splats with a central four leaf flower.

Note the unusual decorative lambrequin at the top of the back arm support.

Also wonderful shaped arms and elbow pads.

 

It retains a plasticene lable, “Dabiell 42, 44, 46, Wigmore St. London”.


A B Daniell And Son (antique dealers) were established in 1820 in Wigmore street, they gradually expanded to occupy 42, 44 and 46 Wigmore Street and continued to trade throughout the 19th century up to 1912 (according to ads found).
