American water pitcher.

This Meriden Britania Double Wall Pitcher, in silver plate, with tapered cylindrical body, “S” and “C” scrolled handle, and grape bunch finial on the five fingered hinged lid.

The sides of this tapered silverplate pitcher have parellel ribs that accentuate its elegant shape.

The interior enamel holds the temperature very well.

This ice pitcher has the white enamel interior double walled construction that was done by the Meriden Britannia Co from 1852 until the late 19th century.

The bottom of this silver plate pitcher is marked "Meriden Brit’a Co. No 25 Pat June 8, 1858, Double walled pitcher." Engraved “G. B. P. C. B. W.”
